OK...Although I have lived in Washington, D.C. all of my life I have never been to an embassy for anything before. I mean, we even have a section of town called Embassy Row. Then again, there are plenty of Washingtonians who have never been to the top of the Washington Monument--I know my husband hasn't, lol. It just seems wrong, doesn't it?
Since it's only a block away from my job and I'm getting out early for the holiday, my husband and I will be going over to the Australian Embassy to see fellow AQ member Alison Schwabe's exhibit in their gallery!
I am really looking forward to it!

I feel quite thrilled and feel a little overwhelmed at the level of your excitement which, through your words, has reached all the way down to me here in Montevideo Uruguay, today. As I write, you should be there. I honestly hope my work lives up to your huge expectations for it.

I'm jealous, too. And I walked around Embassy Row area when we were in DC a few years ago. We were headed to the Textile Museum??
Anyway, my big memory of the walk was standing on the corner with Letitia Baldridge. She was protocol officer to the white house for Jack and Jacquilne Kennedy. And an elegant woman.
