This one's for Sonji whose excitement over the possibilities of the white cotton was contagious! I got happy with my markers in my sketchbook a few weeks ago and a Senegal memory of peach sands, blue skies and swirly gnarly baobabs came to mind.

OOOOOh, I love it! The drawing is very lovely in and of itself. I love lines and swirls. Very good. Now...how are you going to translate this into fabric? Is it going to be a wholecloth thing and the colors will be the thread? Is it going to be pieced in the way you have the lines in the sketch? Seriously, I'm dying to know how the colors in the drawing will be translated on your actual quilt!!!!! You must start working on this ASAP!!! Sonji
That sketch is faboo! A perfect design for fusing. Have you ever used Wonder Under? Since you're a newbie you might not be familiar with the freedom of fusing. Do you need tips? Or are you off and running with your own brilliance?
I am with the Sonji on this.....I cannot wait to see what you do with it!! I can see this translated in gradiations of dupioni.....oh yum!! Can't WAIT to see where you go with this!

Deborah I just bought some Wonder Under and I'm just bubbling with excitement as to what I can do with it!
My favorite fusing tip (via Melody of course) is to use the release paper to build your design. Prefuse as much fabric as you feel like. Then hopefully you have largish pieces of the release paper left over. Put those on your ironing board (or padded work surface) and then begin designing with your prefused pieces on the release paper. Slightly over lap the pieces to act like "seams" and iron down. Then you can peel the whole composition off the release paper and fuse it directly to the batting. Get it?

I lOVE this sketch. I first saw it several days ago and it has been haunting me. Would you please give me permission to use the idea as a base for my own sketch for a jacket or quilt? I wouldn't sell it or anything, just for my own pleasure.
