Starbirth--Free Motion Experimenting...
Well, here's "Starbirth." I've been having a good time working on this. I'm going to add some clear sparkly beads over the little white spots--which are baby stars in the photo--and embroider their colored points of light around them.
I got a little happy with the free motion stitching. This is the first time I've ever done it all over like this. So much fun! I'm going to put a binding on it--as I stitched through before I could "pillowcase it. Darn. I would've liked the look of no binding. Any suggestions? And, what about hanging sleeves if I pillowcase? How do you attach them then?

You don't need to bind it - I've done a number of wall quilts where I quilted them completely, then did the pillowcase thing afterwards, fusing the backing into place after it is turned. Or, you could face it instead. I agree that it would look best without a binding - great quilting, too!
Have you thought about going back over the piece with more of the Neocolor crayons? (or did you use the Shiva Sticks?) I love the overall flow of your quilting lines.
Logan beat me to it...I was going to suggest doing a facing on the edge since it's already quilted. I think it would look good binding-less. And the quilting on it is wonderful.
What a great piece!! You are really having fun with this machine quilting.
And, I agree.. face it don't bind it.
So what's next?
I think this is lovely ...and I see no reason why you should have to do anything at all to the edges ...if you like them the way they are then leave them!! Ginger
What a great interpretation of starbirth - you got it going on!! Wow!! No binding, please!!
this is looking wonderful and I agree wil all no binding, I like Gingers suggestion of leaving the egdes, just like the real star,
