Jazz Quilt Sketch
There's a call for entries for a jazz-themed show so this will probably be my next quilt. I hope that it can be finished in time for slides in August. This is a rough, rough sketch based upon the CD cover below.
When I thought of jazz I thought of my cousin Jo Thompson, who is a Detroit-based jazz singer and shared the stage with luminaries such as Lena Horne in the 1950s as she sang in famous nightspots all over the world. She recently came out with her first CD. She is a glamorous elegant woman, really "fabulous" as she'd call herself, and I couldn't think of anyone else better to represent when I thought of jazz on a personal level to me.

This is totally cool! Can't wait to see it take form!!
Great drawing. This should be a fun quilt.
Elle, how incredibly exciting to do this quilt!?! I bet your cousin will just be thrilled! I'm going to see if I can find her cd!
This is soooooooo totally COOOOOOLLL!
I'm excited to see how this turns out.
Oh, I love this! I have piles of old jazz records - Sarah Vaughn, Etta James, etc. and I just love the way the album covers look. Your drawing is great, I can't wait to see the quilt!
This one's from Sandra of "Croque-Choux":
"Wow, cool- go for it! I always thought it would be the coolest thing
to have a jazz musician or singer in the family... Hey, I didn't name
my son Miles for nothin'!"
I LOVE the sketch, Elle! Can't wait to see the quilt you make from it.
