Break Time
Took a week off from quilting after the frenzy that was prepping for entering those shows last week. I was looking at the "Grandma" quilt and thinking, "Hmm...I need to finish that." So I think that I will. I don't know how I feel about the starkness of that white. The original had a brocaded curtain behind her. Any suggestions for recreating the pattern?

Hmmm...Does you sewing machine have any decorative stitches? Doing almost any decorative stitch in a green or gold thread would add some depth and texture to the background.
If that won't work, stamping it might.
I agree with Debra, or how about adding some quilting the background in gold metalic complemented by gold jewerly on her? Will that too much gold?
You could create plenty of pattern in the background by machine quilting the white parts with colored thread.
I don't know if its just the photo on the blog but the curtain as it is now is too light...richer colour in shades of the green with some more gold maybe.
